Top 10 Movies of 2023!

So pre-pandemic, the hubs and I could be found at the movies at least once a week. Now, not so much. Since I’m not sure if I’ve seen 10 films in the theater, I am also using movies I’ve watched on my streaming services, such as Netflix and Hulu. Here’s my top 10. Good luck to me!

10. The Marvels – PG-13: I like stories that empower women. I don’t care if people hated it, I enjoyed it!

9. The Whale – R: A sad story about what depression can do to a person. I glad Brendan Fraser is making a comeback after what happened go him in Hollywood. To be honest, this is only the second Brendan Fraser film I’ve watched. The only other was With Honors a movie I LOVED!! Looking at his acting resume he was also in Now and Then, so I guess I’ve seen two other movies he’s been in.

8. The Hunger Games – PG-13: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes: I didn’t read the book, but this film was more gruesome than the original trilogy (it should have been just a trilogy, having a fourth film was lame!

7. The Haunted Mansion – PG-13: This was such a fun film and so much better than the Eddie Murphy version, which I saw for the first time after watching this!

6. Air – R: My husband thought it was slow paced, but I love films directed by Ben Affleck better than I like films staring Ben Affleck

5. The Little Mermaid – PG: The music was amazing. Halle Bailey’s voice is amazing. Some parts I could do without. I wasn’t expecting the 1989 version and I’m fine with that

4. Asteroid City – PG-13: I love myself a Wes Anderson movie!!!!

3. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – PG-13: The best of the superhero movies that came out this year. This really did mark the end of an era. I think may are suffering from superhero fatigue

2. SCREAM VI – R: I think this was better than many of the others that came before it. I’m said we won’t see how this new trilogy is going to end.

  1. Barbie – PG-13: I never saw Oppenheimer

Missing from my list, but few honorable mentions, Antman and the Wasp Quantum Mania, Shazam! The Flash, Gran Turismo and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. I actually saw quite a few movies this year. Some were horrible (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), some were silly and nostalgic (Best Christmas Ever on Netflix) and I couldn’t have a movie starring Ashton Kutcher on my top 10 (Your Place or Mine on Netflix).

Here’s a photo of my Sam-Sam. Isn’t he the most distinguished gentleman? Such a handsome boy at almost 16 years old! He has nothing to do with movies, but he does like to watch TV with me.
